Strategy

  • Encourage national and international linkages through an active programme of networking with Chamber of Commerce of Ireland, IDA, Udaras na Gaeltachta, Rionn na Gaeltachta and Government Bodies.
  • Develop ongoing marketing strategies for industrial development
  • Facilitate networking between existing industries in Erris by the development of a local 'industry' forum to focus on common issues
  • Set up a directory of all business skills and Industry sectors in the Erris area.

Roads

  • The four main arterial roads to and from Castlebar, Killala, Ballina and Westport now require urgent attention. The Castlebar/Belmullet road facilities tourists industry and the sick.The Ballina/Belmullet road (N59) is our only link to Dublin and Knock international airport. The Killala/Belmullet road (North Coast) ill help or tourist visitors and link us to the North Coast attractions, like the Ceide Fields etc. The Ballycroy/Belmullet road is our link to Westport, Newport, Mulranny and Achill.

Amenities

  • The Erris Chamber must help in the development of amenities to cater for the teenagers, as they wll be our future industrial workers and business people. It is the young that brings life to our community, industry and business generally. We must do everything possible to make Erris a better place for our young people. We must realize, what is good for industry is good for tourism and what is good for industry and tourism and good for the retail sector. Tourism, Industry and the general business sector require indoor social facilities urgently. Those facilities will prmote competition, teamwork, enjoyment, physical fitness and something to do when the wether is hostile for our younger generation.

Erris Chamber will strive to make Erris a progressive region and the most attractive place to live, visit and do business. We will seek to achieve growth in all social economic and investment aspects of the community.

This will include representation for Business, providing opportunites for business networking, encouraging and welcoming new Businesses, Tourism and community projects whilst providing a range of benefits and business services.

We will be a unified voice of business, industry, tourism and the community within the Erris region. We will seek the highest quality of services to aid Business, and Tourism so as to compete on a level footing in national and international terms. We will provide a quality of service second to none and address issues that threaten the development of business, industry and tourism.
